Lone Pine Campground and Group Campground

Lone Pine Campground is closed due to the excessive snowfall over the winter causing dangerous road conditions.

  • Lone Pine Campground is located near the base of Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the continental United States, offering unparalleled views of the mountain and surrounding peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Whitney Portal National Recreation Trail begins at west end of the campground. Other popular activities near the campground include hiking, exploring the Alabama Hills movie history, and fishing nearby streams. An abundance of fishing and hiking opportunities can be found both in and around Lone Pine.
